All Things ISE 2023

Integrated Systems Europe (ISE 2023) is almost here! The show—being held January 31 – February 3 in Barcelona—will feature over 900 exhibitors from all segments of the ProAV and residential AV industries, a plethora of networking events, and education tracks from CEDIA, AVIXA, and more.

Mike Blackman speaking at ISE 2022

“ISE 2023 will be a vibrant edition, showcasing a wealth of new technology and providing plenty of opportunity to connect with leaders and innovators throughout the AV and systems integration industries,” said Mike Blackman, managing director of Integrated Systems Events, who runs ISE. “The show is a chance to meet people, do business and make connections that deliver real business benefits. And of course, it is a place to come to be inspired, to learn and develop skills.”

“ISE is one of the biggest platforms in the world for bringing businesses and professionals in the AV space together, and every year we enjoy meeting visitors and showcasing our latest portfolio of products and solutions for the market,” added Alexandra Parlour, European marcoms and education manager, Sony Professional Europe.

Emerging Tech at ISE 2023

ISE promises to be chocked-full of technologies, old and new. “There’s an exciting buzz around coming to Barcelona for ISE 2023, the event is such an essential part of the calendar for the AV industry,” said Blackman. “It is where globally important brands launch products; where people come to see, hear, and experience the products, services and solutions that are transforming attractions, retail, hospitality, education, the corporate environment, live events, and so much more.”

Once again, ISE will be using Technology Zones to group together exhibitors with similar technologies; this approach, says Blackman, makes it easier for attendees to find and compare the solutions they are looking for and saves them time. The Technology Zones are:

  • Unified Communications (Hall 2)
  • Education Technology (Hall 2)
  • Residential & Smart Building (Hall 2)
  • Multi Technology (Halls 3 & 5)
  • Digital Signage & DooH (Hall 6)
  • Content Production & Distribution (Hall 6)
  • Audio (Hall 7) and Audio Demo Rooms (Hall 8.0)
  • Lighting & Staging (Hall 7)

“We are developing a new Technology Zone in response to the growing relevance of content production and distribution technologies across the ProAV and systems integration market,” added Blackman. “ISE 2023 will see a new dedicated area in Hall 6. The Content Production & Distribution Technology Zone will highlight technologies and solutions used in content production and distribution. The new zone will include a number of exhibitor booths, a new ISE Content Studio with a series of panel discussions and presentations hosted by Florian Rotberg of invidis, as well as the Absen Esports and Gaming Showcase. An additional 70 exhibitors can be found in the other halls reflecting this as a growing market sector for AV systems integration professionals.”

“Created in partnership with the team at PSCo and with invaluable contributions from Big Purple Productions, the Absen Esports and Gaming Showcase will feature a 6m x 3m, 2.5pp LED wall as the backdrop, with a two-person gaming desk, fully kitted out and running a series of interactive games,” said Jess Golding, European brand and marketing director, Absen. “The set up will perfectly showcase the enthralling gaming experiences that can be created, and attendees will have the chance to join in.”

Booths to Check Out at ISE 2023

The show floor can be overwhelming, so we chatted a few exhibitors about what they’re launching at the show and why you should check out their booths.

7thSense

ISE 2023 stands to be an exciting event for 7thSense.

7thSense R Series 10

R-Series 10 is 7thSense’s new hardware platform designed to meet the needs of the most demanding generative projects and virtual production applications.

“This ISE, we’re launching our new range of products that have each been designed to enable creative teams to tell their media-based stories with the highest standards of quality, reliability, and support. The Performer Range—as we call it—is made up of R-Series 10, Actor, Conjurer, Compere, and Juggler, each being named after roles typically found in a performance environment,” said Jack Dowd, senior product manager, 7thSense.

At the show, the company will reveal its  R-Series 10 product, a new, high-performance hardware platform designed to meet the needs of the most demanding generative projects and virtual production applications.

As a solution that supports the streamlining of film-making and video production workflows, R-Series 10 is available to purchase from 7thSense as a standalone hardware product and comes ready for use with the user’s preferred generative engines including Unreal Engine, Unity, and Notch.

Absen

Absen says ISE is a valuable opportunity for its team members to meet with new and existing customers in one place and to demonstrate its latest innovations—so what innovations will the company have on tap at the 2023 show?

“Each year ISE amazes with the industry’s latest innovations in technology trends. We’re particularly looking forward to seeing what the virtual production industry has to offer as Absen’s new flagship Virtual Production solution, the PR 2.5 will be making its European trade show debut,” said Absen’s Golding.

According to the company, this performance display offers a wide color gamut, fast heat dissipation, and delivers a 16% reduction in power consumption compared with older products.

The stand will also feature a typical virtual production set up, showcasing partner technologies from ARRI and Brompton. The company says it is seeing more and more corporate clients looking to take advantage of the latest virtual production technologies and adapt them to suit their needs. The result? Immersive and engaging experiences for enterprises, made possible with Absen.

“ISE is a valuable opportunity for Absen to meet with new and existing customers in one place and to demonstrate its latest innovations,” concluded Golding. “ISE is a place for the Absen European team to unite, where we get to come together, share information, and help to grow the business further.”

FunTech Innovation

FunTech Innovation Innex Cube

FunTech Innovation says it is transforming the remote meeting experience with 360° tabletop conference camera, Innex Cube.

At ISE 2023 in Booth 2-S200, FunTech Innovation will feature Innex Cube, a compact 360° tabletop conference camera that provides an “at the table” immersive video conference experience.

Innex Cube sits in the middle of the table and captures faces vividly in proximity. According to the company, the product can help improve meeting equity and exclude no one from the conversation with dedicated close-up shots for everyone in the room. It also is designed to increase interpersonal interaction by delivering the vivid and inclusive video for remote participants.

“With the changing work trends, businesses are now more reliant on technology and process automation to stay connected,” said Eric Lee, CEO of FunTech Innovation. “FunTech Innovation designs innovative, advanced AI-powered hardware equipment and partners with collaboration software company to build a complete solution for hybrid working style. We ensure that remote meetings can be as productive and engaging as everyone are face-to-face.”

In addition to Innex Cube, FunTech Innovation will also be showing Ideao Hub, a 24-inch touch display bundling with Reactiv SUITE collaboration software that brings dynamic content sharing to help engage every participant in remote meetings. To see these solutions and more, head to Booth 2-S200 at ISE 2023.

Sony Professional

Sony Professional will, no doubt, have a wide variety of solutions to fit many of your ProAV—residential AV—needs. “For emerging tech professionals, ISE is a fantastic show to connect with the industry, and on our stand you’ll be able to do just that where we’ll be demonstrating how we can help create connected experiences for customers and end users, using our latest product and solution technologies,” said Sony’s Parlour.

However, one of Sony’s most popular initiatives is something you can’t see… the company’s long-term “Road to Zero” environmental plan, which aims to reduce its environmental footprint to zero by 2050.

“I think this year we’re going to see more discussions around sustainable technology and what that may look like now and in the future for the generations to come,” Parlour said. “It’s something that is extremely important to us at Sony, as we continue to accelerate our ‘Road to Zero’ initiative to achieving net zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and find new innovative ways to use our technology to improve the global environment.”

Education and Networking Events

The tradeshow floor isn’t the only thing you’ll want to see at ISE 2023. There will be a plethora of educational opportunities, networking events, and more.

AVIXA, for example, has taken on the management of seven ISE conferences on topics from digital signage to live events—in addition to Tech Talks presented in English and Spanish.

“AVIXA is proud to be a part of the organizing team that brings this mammoth event together, from educational programming to thought-leading speakers, as well as the many networking opportunities that lead to life-long relationships and the business deals that keep our industry moving forward,” said David Labuskes, CTS, CEO of AVIXA. “At ISE, AV professionals can learn new ideas for revenue streams, new use cases and solutions, build the network that can help make it happen, and put hands on the tech that makes it possible.”

The Smart Home Technology Conference, formerly called CEDIA’s Professional Development Program, runs Tuesday through to Friday in CC1 and will see CEDIA deliver more than 65 hours of content. This conference covers a wide range of industry trends like wellness, hospitality, and assisted living—as well as hot topics like gaming, AI, and slow technology. Designed for delegates to choose sessions throughout the week, attendees can book sessions a’la carte or purchase a CEDIA Pass which provides access to the entire program.
