AdHawk MicroSystems on AWE 2024

Now in its 15th year, Augmented World Expo (AWE) is where emerging tech professionals go to learn, connect, and grow their business in the extended reality (XR) ecosystem. This year’s event will be held June 18-20 in Long Beach, CA.

Ahead of the show, the LAVNCH [CODE] team sat down with AWE exhibitors to see what they expect to see trending on the show floor and why emerging tech pros should visit their booths.

Executive interview with Neil Sarkar, CEO, AdHawk Microsystems.

LAVNCH [CODE]: Why are you exhibiting at AWE 2024?

NEIL SARKAR: AdHawk has attended AWE for years because it brings together technical experts and enthusiasts from AR, VR, and XR spaces. We all share a common goal: to explore and push the boundaries of what is technically possible.

As a deep tech startup re-imagining the state of the art for eye tracking, we’re attending AWE to meet new partners and catch up with old ones, learn from each other, and show the world what we’ve been building. Each of the past several years have provided valuable introductions to new potential partners and have even rekindled old ones.

LAVNCH [CODE]: What is one trend you expect to see at the show and why?

NS: Natural interaction methods—such as gaze and voice—are quickly becoming “table stakes”. This year, we expect to see a strong and broad interest in eye tracking as a way to add important and nuanced context, foster a sense of immersion, and expand available interaction options.

Since last year’s AWE, there have been several major announcements from top players and we are excited to see how the industry has responded. There will be a lot of great discussions with a vast array of industry insiders that will help shape the future of the industry.

LAVNCH [CODE]:Why should attendees visit your booth at the show?

NS: Demos, demos, demos! Our team will be showing off low latency, low power, and low compute eye tracking for a variety of modalities and use cases.

We’ll be showing:

  • MindLink: our research-grade eye tracking glasses suitable for technology evaluation, and demanding research—both inside and outside of the lab
  • MindLink Air: the first wireless fitness tracker for the brain, designed to enhance focus, productivity, and mental resilience
  • MindLink VR: our innovative eye tracking rings for Meta Quest 2 VR headsets (ever sliced fruit using only your eyes?)

We’ll also be demonstrating how, in the ever-evolving world of artificial intelligence (AI), AdHawk eye tracking can improve AI interactions by providing valuable context around intent and visual attention (e.g., for smart glasses with AI assistants).

LAVNCH [CODE]: Anything else you’d like to add?

NS: I had the pleasure of presenting to the AWE audience in 2018. It is amazing to see how the industry and our eye tracking technology have grown since then.
