Can’t Miss Experiences at InfoComm 2024

Can't Miss Experiences at InfoComm 2024

Las Vegas is renowned as a hub for immersive experiences, and in a matter of weeks, thousands of #AVTweeps will flock to the city for InfoComm 2024, eager to indulge in cutting-edge technology experiences. Whether it’s at the Las Vegas Convention Center or off-site, there are plenty of educational opportunities, events, and experiences to choose from.

“InfoComm is the hub of technological innovation and boundless possibilities igniting inspiration and exploration,” said Rochelle Richardson, senior vice president of expositions and events, AVIXA. “We can’t wait for the industry to experience the June show where we have curated a robust program and an array of surprises that promise a memorable experience for all.”

InfoComm 2024 to Host An Evening at Sphere

InfoComm will host an event at The Sphere on Tuesday, June 11.

New this year and arguably the most talked about experience at InfoComm 2024 will be An Evening at Sphere.  Held on Tuesday, June 11, the event begins with a reception in the Atrium, where—through one-of-a-kind immersive technology experiences created specifically for Sphere—guests will gain a better understanding of how technology amplifies human potential. The guests will then enter the main venue bowl for a multi-sensory cinematic experience: Darren Aronofsky’s Postcard from Earth.

“Sphere is the perfect setting to welcome ProAV professionals from around the world to kick off InfoComm 2024—this evening will leave attendees energized for the trade show and inspired by the magic created by ProAV,” said Richardson.

Returning this year will be an esports experience. InfoComm Esports Live 2.0 allows attendees to experience esports in action all three days with a Gaming Stage featuring live match play competitions; esports expert presenters and tech at the Coaches’ Stage; play-by-play, interviews, and podcasts from the Shoutcast Stage; and a full Production Stage.

InfoComm has paired up with AVI Systems to bring this experience to live. “AVI Systems is excited to partner with AVIXA once again. We’re leveling up the InfoComm Esports 2.0 with a larger stage, more collegiate teams, more live game play during show hours, and elevated production showing off the latest technology,” said Craig Frankenstein, director, digital media practice, AVI Systems. “Attendees will be wowed and engaged when they see the excitement esports brings to InfoComm 2024!”

InfoComm 2024 will feature five integrated tours and 12 show tours, all during the key show days. One of the tours will be focused on esports—the Integrated Experience Tour: HyperX Arena (Session EX04) takes place on Wednesday, June 12 (Day 1) from 1:30 – 4:30 p.m. Attendees will be able to explore the nerve center of operations with a visit to the FOH control room, production observatory, and main production control room—where state-of-the-art graphics (Xpression and Brompton‘s Tessera) and replay systems (Mira) orchestrate seamless productions captured by Panasonic PTZ cameras. The tour is worth 2 CTS or CTS-D RUs.

By now, #AVTweeps should be familiar with the immersive entertainment district AREA15 (Session EX05). InfoComm 2024 attendees now have the opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes tour of the experiential playground designed to inspire, incubate, and initiate endless possibilities. The tour will be led by Kelly Campbell-Smolen, executive director of event sales and programming at AREA15, and JD Bouck, AREA15’s director of production. The tour is worth 2 CTS RUs.

For the last of the tour hightlights, on Wednesday, June 12 (Day 1) at 1 p.m., Kristin Bidwell, CTS will lead the two-hour Sustainability Show Floor Tour (Session SF08). The tour will provide insight on what manufacturers are doing to advance sustainability in the AV industry, steps you can take to create their own sustainability plan, and promote conversations on how different trades within the industry can work together to provide sustainable AV solutions to clients and end users.

InfoComm will once again have a large focus on digital signage experiences and education. “Reflecting the growing opportunities in the digital signage space, our program at InfoComm will provide a wealth of insight into the very latest technologies and developments in digital signage,” said AVIXA’s Richardson. “We’ll also have plentiful opportunities for integrators, designers, content creators, and the entire digital signage community to build their network.”

One can’t miss session on the Technology Innovation Stage (Booth C8676) will feature digital signage experts like Michelle Montazeri of Legrand AV and Kiersten Gibson of Reach Media Network exploring how interactive digital signage applications can maximize the user experience. They’ll also discuss what’s next for the sector, including green signage and the role of computer vision AI.

For those interested in truly emerging technologies for ProAV, Redefining Reality: Taking the Next Steps with AR, VR, MR, AI, and XR (Session ED49)—held on Thursday, June 13—is a can’t-miss class. John Campanella, VP of engineering at PIVIUM, will delve into how these groundbreaking technologies that are reshaping our world.

Mark Coxon, director of business development, XTG at AVI-SPL, will lead a workshop—Creating the New Connection Center (Session PW06)—on Tuesday, June 11. In this hands-on workshop, Coxon will coach attendees on how to design AV systems geared toward collaboration, customer acquisition, and employee retention.

“This is the third year we’ve held this workshop but it changes every year because the world changes every year. In this workshop, we use human-centered design principles and we use some things we’ve learn about humans’ behavioral psychology to design a space that really helps people do their best work.” said Coxon. “If you want to get out of your traditional design box and earn some CTS-D credits, please join us at Creating the New Connection Center at InfoComm!”

And what would InfoComm be without some fun networking events? New this year is the #AVSneakerheads Meetup (Session SL20). Hosted by Jennifer Weaver and Sharath Abraham, the event is designed to connect sneaker enthusiasts and “all heat levels are welcome.”

“The #AVSneakerhead meet up is not about shoes or sneakers, it’s about community and conversation,” said Weaver. “You don’t have to wear sneakers to come, or even like sneakers! Come and meet some new peeps and have a causal chat—orjust come and see how weird some of us are about shoes!”

The event will take place on Friday, June 14, from 12 – 12:45 p.m. in Booth W2847.

This year’s XUSC event—Buzz & Bullseyes Digital Signage Mixer—is definitely a can’t-miss experience. But, unfortunately, unless you already registered, you’ll have to miss the event as it sold out in two hours.

“We’d love to have an even bigger mob for the event, but venues have pesky little things like fire and building codes that genuinely limit how many people can show,” said event co-host Dave Haynes, founder of 16:9, in this article. “Moving to a different, larger venue is much easier suggested than done, especially two months out from an event. We don’t have a waiting list, but will of course do what we can to accommodate people who missed the unexpectedly short registration window.”
