“CEDIA Expo 2023 and Commercial Integrator Expo 2023 were bustling with industry professionals experiencing the newest tech and learning about trends in the residential and commercial audiovisual industry,” said Jason McGraw, CTS, group vice president for CEDIA Expo, Commercial Integrator Expo, and KBIS, Emerald (producer of the shows). “An energy and buzz of excitement was evident on the crowded show floor!”

The co-located events featured 340 exhibitors with 154,400 net-sq.-ft. of exhibits and welcomed over 32% first-time attendees and 94 first-time exhibitors. “With 48% of CEDIA Expo and Commercial Integrator Expo attendees reporting that they also serve commercial markets in addition to residential, the growth in resimercial opportunities was clearly evident at this year’s shows,” said McGraw.

One of the most exciting show features, according to Emerald, was the keynote from technology futurist and innovation expert Scott Steinberg discussing the current and future implications of artificial intelligence (AI) in the custom installation industry. Steinberg noted that AI will transform the way industry professionals work, communicate, and connect with customers in the years to come—more than the last 10,000 years ever did. The AI theme continued throughout the shows with seminars and panels that discussed how new opportunities will emerge as AI transforms the audiovisual market.

Emerald says MicroLED video walls were a key trend this year as the display technology continues to penetrate the residential space, with a plethora of exhibitors—including LG, Samsung, Sony, Planar, Digital Projection, Just Video Walls, and Barco—showcasing the growing trend.

Lighting systems were also as a hot topic for integrators interested in capitalizing on the growth of architectural and LED lighting solutions for residential and commercial settings, according to Emerald. CEDIA Expo featured lighting brands including AiSPiRE/WAC, American Lighting, Coastal Source, Colorbeam, DMF, Environmental Lights, FX Luminere, and Lucifer Lighting, who brightened the show floor with its latest products along with the lighting business and design topics in the CEDIA Expo Conference Program.

Networking and special events held at the show—including the CE Pro All-Star Band Opening Reception, CE Pro Awards, the CEDIA Advocacy Town Hall, DSF’s Digital Signage Day, NSCA’s BizSkills Day, Technology Designer’s Day of Discovery, and the Women in Consumer Technology Luncheon—allowed attendees to reconnect with friends and colleagues and to learn about industry issues and trends.

CEDIA Expo 2024 and Commercial Integrator Expo 2024 will held in Denver, CO from September 4–7.
