LAVNCH [CODE]: We know your title, but what do you actually do at Zero Density?
RALF VAN VEGTEN: As a recent addition to the Zero Density team, I am thrilled to be part of an organization—I have been a loyal customer of for many years. Having personally experienced the company’s remarkable solutions and approach to customers, my commitment to driving growth and fostering customer engagement through effective marketing strategies is unwavering. LAVNCH [CODE]: In your opinion, what is the most exciting thing about extended reality?
RV: Extended reality (XR) in broadcast holds the promise of transforming how we consume and engage with content, offering immersive experiences, enhanced storytelling, interactive visuals, and greater flexibility in production. These advancements have the potential to reshape the broadcast industry and create new and exciting opportunities for content creators, broadcasters, and viewers alike.
LAVNCH [CODE]: Where do you see the XR market heading in the next year?
RV:The XR market is still evolving rapidly and will continue to do so. This market from a broadcast perspective points to an exciting future where immersive and interactive experiences become more prevalent in broadcasting, enhancing viewer engagement, and transforming how content is produced and consumed. With the emergence and expansion of new technologies, hardware advancements, content innovations, and further integrations will shape the market as it expands.
LAVNCH [CODE]: What new XR products and services are on the horizon for Zero Density?
RV: Adding XR to the workflow could be seen as a new complication from a production standpoint. That’s why we’ve looked at XR and all other broadcast graphics holistically. We want broadcasters, filmmakers, and industry leaders to know that photorealistic XR can be simple.
With our solutions, XR, augmented reality (AR), and on air graphics are generated by one engine, so that anyone can create assets once and then use them across all their shows. Our control interface, RealityHub, can then be used to control all graphics from one place. RealityHub is a rundown based interface that will simplify any complex setup. So when you add XR, you will be able to create an overall less complex workflow. The highest-quality graphics and ease-of-use go hand-in-hand with all our development efforts.
LAVNCH [CODE]: Anything else you’d like to add?
RV: Zero Density is investing heavily in product development and expansion of its teams across the globe. With a new development center in Poland, expansion of our sales and technical teams in Europe and the Americas, we not only talk about our commitment to the industry, but we are actually doing it—and we do it at an incredible pace. We want to keep leading the media industry when it comes to real-time graphics and work with our clients to shape the future of immersive storytelling and efficient graphics workflows.
