XR Exec Talks with Dimensional Innovations

Chad HutsonName: Chad Hutson

Title: Chief Strategy Officer

Company: Dimensional Innovations

LAVNCH [CODE]: We know your title, but what do you actually do at Dimensional Innovations?

CHAD HUTSON: I work across Dimensional Innovation (DI)’s leadership team—in strategy, marketing, sales, partnerships, and technology – to develop future-focused initiatives that support our long-term goals. Since DI’s mission is to create remarkable experiences for our clients, digital technology is an integral part of our future – and a favorite aspect of my role here.

LAVNCH [CODE]: In your opinion, what is the most exciting thing about extended reality?

CH: No matter which aspect of extended reality (XR) we’re talking about here—be it virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), immersive LED, or projected environments—the consistent aspect across them all is eliminating traditional boundaries, or, putting it another way, extending an experience beyond physical or spatial limitations. When looking across all of DI’s verticals—which include professional sports, corporate, entertainment, and healthcare to name a few—XR applies to all of them. Who wouldn’t want a heightened experience that is far more engaging?

LAVNCH [CODE]: Where do you see the XR market heading in the next year?

CH: Even though consumer adoption of VR/AR still hasn’t caught up with expectations, there’s certainly plenty of action in the B2B space. Simulations and training for the healthcare, technology, and manufacturing industries have continued to grow in popularity and have inherent benefits; VR and AR can allow for shared experiences without the need for expensive travel, for example. Immersive entertainment also continues to dominate the landscape, with XR being a key component of that.

LAVNCH [CODE]: What new XR products and services are on the horizon for Dimension Innovations?

CH: XR has been part of DI’s technology DNA for nearly a decade, and we’ll continue to create bespoke digital experiences for our clients using a variety of software and hardware-based tools. But from an internal perspective, we recently partnered with AR headset company Magic Leap to pilot a new remote assistance program using their products. This allows us to conduct field training or troubleshooting with virtual tools at the team’s disposal.

LAVNCH [CODE]: Anything else you’d like to add?

CH: Even though we love our virtual and augmented reality, sometimes there’s nothing quite like the real thing, and we always strive to have clients and prospective partners visit our operation in person. XR and IRL (in real life) are a much stronger combination. For anyone wanting to learn more about Dimensional Innovations or to schedule a visit, check out our website here.
