Advocacy is one of the key pillars of the XR Association and educating policymakers about the limitless future of the extended reality (XR) industry is core to its mission. The association says it regularly meets directly with members of congress, participates in Capitol Hill briefings, and provides input on pending legislation.

The Congressional Caucus on Virtual, Augmented and Mixed Reality Technologies—better known as the Reality Caucus— helps members of Congress learn more about extended reality (XR), get hands-on experience with the technology, and hear from experts about public policy initiatives to support its growth. The Reality Caucus, which was founded in 2017, is actively recruiting members of the U.S. House of Representatives to join its ranks.

In a recent statement to encourage members of the technology community to assist with its advocacy efforts, the association said, “While our work is important, members of the XR industry have a critical role in our advocacy efforts as well. Each of you are a constituent and have representation in the U.S. House and the U.S. Senate.
