DeCoded: AVIXA Women’s Council and the Rosie Riveters Initiative

On this episode of LAVNCH [CODE] DeCoded, we discuss the AVIXA Women’s Council Rosie Riveters initiative—which is designed to open girls’ minds to STEM careers—with Jennifer Goodyer, CTS and Erica Carroll of the AVIXA Women’s Council, and Brittany Greer of Rosie Riveters.

Rosie Riveters is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization built on the premise that innovation is cultivated where experimentation is encouraged; that failure is not in conflict with success, but a necessary and crucial part of it. There is no true career path that leads young students and innovators to the ProAV industry, let alone younger girls who only represent less than 20% of the industry entirely. The AVIXA Women’s Council believes that by supporting STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) programs like the Rosie Riveters non-profit organization, we can intervene early in girls’ education to bring awareness to STEM careers such as those we occupy in ProAV. By sparking an interest in our industry during their formative years of education, girls can pursue various schooling and training paths that would lead them to a career in AV, which would have a direct positive impact on gender equity in ProAV and technology.
