Can’t Miss Experiences at InfoComm 2023
AV professionals are known for taking technology to the limits and creating experiences that engage multiple senses with said technology. At this year’s InfoComm, show attendees will be treated to a variety of experiences, and here’s the ones the LAVNCH [CODE] team thinks you can’t miss.

A Moment Factory interactive experience.
First up, you won’t want to miss the interactive experience happening in Booth 361. For the first time ever, InfoComm has partnered with Moment Factory and Nanolumens to create a three-day-long experience. This installation is set to feature a range of interactive displays from Nanolumens that respond to the movements and gestures of visitors. Over the course of the show, visitors can control and manipulate the content in a variety of ways, exploring the limits of creative expression and innovation.
“We’re thrilled to collaborate on this interactive experience with Moment Factory and Nanolumens and can’t wait to unveil it at InfoComm 2023,” said Rochelle Richardson, senior vice president of expositions and events at AVIXA, producer of InfoComm. “This activation will embody how content, space, and technology are used to create incredible experiences.”

Dr. Tarika Barrett
One of my personal favorite experiences at InfoComm each year is the annual AVIXA Women’s Breakfast. This year’s keynote speaker is Dr. Tarika Barrett, CEO of Girls Who Code. During her speech, Barrett is set to shine a light on the transformative power of learning spaces where women can collaborate to problem-solve, innovate, and envision themselves as leaders and equals in their fields.
“The AVIXA Women’s Breakfast is always the highlight of the show for me,” said Tammy Fuqua, developer partner manager at QSC, and chair of the AVIXA Women’s Council. “At the event, I am able to meet many friends—old and new—who are interested in making the ProAV industry a better place for women. All genders are welcome at this inclusive event and you won’t want to miss the powerful networking that will take place at the breakfast.”
She added: “This year’s keynote speaker, Dr. Tarika Barrett, will be another draw. She loves to empower women—especially those from minority backgrounds—to feel like they belong. Her talk will focus on outlining ways that organizations can advance their cultures to be more supportive of women, amplify their voices, and tear down systemic roadblocks that women so often encounter in the workplace.”
While it appears off-site tours are limited this year (there are only four appearing, with the one at UCF being held twice), two of these tours are definitely can’t-miss experiences.

Moana holds the Heart of Te Fiti during Fantasmic!
On June 14 from 6:00 – 10:30 p.m., a panel of professionals from Disney Live Entertainment will discuss the exciting creative and technological updates implemented with the re-opening of Fantasmic! After hearing from the team, attendees be taken to the amphitheater to watch the show live. “It was extremely exciting to take advantage of technological enhancements that didn’t originally exist when the show opened in 1998,” said Katrina Mena Rick, broadcast creative producer for Disney Live Entertainment, and one of the tour’s panelists. “So, we [worked] with other disciplines such as special effects, lighting, lasers, and music to ensure that our visual content was as exactly seamless and as beautiful as it could be.” Click here for more information.
On June 13 from 12:30 – 4:30 p.m., Steven Leonard, director of event technical operations at Full Sail University, will take show attendees on a tour of the venue’s facilities—including the Full Sail University Orlando Health Fortress, its famed esports space. Click here for more information.
Speaking of esports… for the first time ever, InfoComm, in partnership with AVI Systems, will present InfoComm Esports Live, a live collegiate esports venue on the trade show floor in Booth 4033. Attendees will experience esports in action all three days with a gaming stage featuring live match play competitions, esports expert presenters and tech at the coach’s stage, play-by-play, interviews, and podcasts from the Shoutcast desk, and a full production zone.
“Nothing shows off the impact of our industry better than esports,” said Brad Sousa, chief technology officer, AVI Systems. “Live front-of-house audio and media, broadcast and production technologies, advanced media over IP networking with a heavy dose of competition and event production—that’s the tech impact of esports.”
InfoComm attendees with an interest in esports competition can play on Friday, June 16 between 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. To learn more about InfoComm Esports Live and to register to compete, click here.
In addition, attendees won’t want to miss the ever-popular Technology Innovation Stage on the InfoComm 2023 show floor where industry experts will provide bite-sized insights into the latest technology advancements and applications. LAVNCH [CODE] readers will be especially interested in a session titled “Lux Machina & Virtual Production: What’s behind House of The Dragon, The Mandalorian, or Bullet Train?” where panelists will explore the varieties of production approaches from simple video playback through to real time engine powered workflows. This free-to-attend session will be held June 15 from 9:30 – 10:15 a.m. in Booth 2260. Click here for more information.
Lastly, we have to share an experience from the rAVe team! This year’s theme for THE GAME is “What the Duck?” Show attendees can visit the rAVe team in Booth L-6 outside of the exhibit hall and choose a lucky duck to win a variety of prizes—everything from an iconic rAVe t-shirt to AirPod Pros and more. In addition, the booth will offer a breather from all the show floor hullabaloo where attendees can relax with a game of corn hole or Guitar Hero and chat with the rAVe team.
“rAVe has always had an iconic presence at InfoComm shows, and this year will be no different,” said Gary Kayye, founder of rAVe [PUBS]. “The team is looking forward to another year of fun, innovation, and interaction with friends old and new!”
