All Things ISE 2022
Integrated Systems Europe (ISE 2022) was the last major ProAV show held before the pandemic hit in early 2020. Now, the show is fully back in action after being rescheduled from February to May.
ISE 2022 is celebratory in more than one way—it’s the show’s inaugural debut in Barcelona’s Fira Gran Via after spending many years in Amsterdam at the RAI.

ISE’s Mike Blackman
“This year, as the various restrictions are now being removed, we’re excited to get back to an in-person show in Barcelona to reconnect with the AV industry and experience the technology and networking that we’ve all missed,” said Mike Blackman, managing director of Integrated Systems Events, who runs ISE. “We will have some really creative activities at the show, highlighting the huge benefits that AV technologies brings to our lives in so many different ways.”
The return to in-person is exciting for the ISE staff, exhibitors, and attendees alike. “Our business is built on relationships, and we’re thrilled to be able to finally reunite and re-engage with our partners and the industry face-to-face at ISE 2022,” said Steve Capling, director of marketing, Christie. “Meeting in-person and showcasing our latest technology is why we’re excited to be exhibiting at ISE again.”
“AVIXA is excited to reunite with the AV community again at ISE 2022 after what has been a long time for so many people to be able to travel and connect at a show,” added Sarah Joyce, chief global officer, AVIXA. “The importance of connecting in person at a show—being able to participate in education, conferences, and networking—is vital to AVIXA’s mission to be a catalyst for growth for the AV profession. We cannot wait to be in Barcelona in a few short weeks celebrating ISE all together.”
Health and Safety Protocols
As the pandemic rages on, ISE will still have certain health and safety protocols in place.
“Many countries are making changes to their COVID protocols with restrictions easing. In fact, from April 20 in Spain, the wearing of masks will no longer be mandatory, and our protocols at the show will also reflect this change,” said Blackman. While face coverings are not mandatory at Fira Gran Via, they still must be worn in certain places in Spain, including public transportation.
“Our COVID safety measures will remain under constant review to reflect the national guidelines in Spain. This is to ensure the most appropriate plans are in place for the situation in May 2022 as we continue to work closely with the venue, the city of Barcelona, and the local and national health authorities,” Blackman added. “Please check our website regularly for the most up to date situation—but currently attendees will need to show either proof of vaccination, proof of recovery, or proof of a negative test (valid for the day of the test and the day after) to enter the venue.

ISE 2022 Trends
ISE is known for its cutting-edge programs and exhibitors and this year’s show is shaping up to be no exception.
For example, AVIXA will present the second edition of the AV Experience Zone. “It’s a dedicated special Spanish-language event, where participants will be able to interact with the most cutting-edge solutions on the market, with demonstrations of real case studies, customer testimonials, and talks given by the top professionals in the sector,” said Blackman. “The program will address different topics aimed mainly at the verticals of retail, corporate, education, and hospitality. There will also be guided tours of the ISE show floor.”
Digital signage solutions will be prevalent throughout the show floor, but ISE 2022 attendees will also be treated to thought-provoking ideas from the show’s educational program and cutting-edge digital signage technology on display (the Digital Signage & DOOH Zone at ISE 2022 will be hosted in Hall 6).
“Over the last decade, digital signage has evolved at an astounding rate. What was once a medium for passively casting information to users has now become a dynamic and interactive platform to stream personalized content to viewers, offering real-time value,” said Francesco Ziliani, CEO of SpinetiX. “This trend was accelerated by the pandemic with application scenarios such as remote person-to-person communication becoming the norm. Digitalization with cloud based and IoT technologies leading the way, has firmly entered and will continue to expand into all aspects of our lives and digital signage is no exception. At SpinetiX we are convinced that we answer the technological challenges of tomorrow by bringing secure cutting-edge solutions of the future today.”
On Stand 3R100, SpinetiX will showcase the SpinetiX ARYA cloud, which is designed to create visually appealing content to drive customers’ attention and bring that extra push in sales.
Absen will also be showcasing cutting-edge digital signage solutions. “Absen MicroLED with pitch 0.9mm and 1.2mm is going to be showcased together for high-end retail and corporate market, to let you experience a cool screen with fantastic performance,” said Debbie Zhang, regional director, UK and Ireland at Absen. “Creative 3D content, fine pitch floor product, and fine pitch perimeter system are all worth looking deeper and start the conversation with Absen representative.” Absen can be found on the ISE 2022 show floor on Stand 3N840 and 3N350.
Projection mapping will also be front-and-center at ISE 2022. To kick off the show, there will be a projection mapping display created by Refik Anadol. Titled Heritage of Tomorrow, the display will be presented on the façade of the iconic Casa Batlló to also mark the conclusion of OFFF Barcelona, a festival of creativity, art, and digital design.
I RISE, an inspiring and eye-catching projection mapping event in a central Barcelona location, is set to be one of the highlights of ISE 2022, and ISE attendees can be involved in its content. Created and produced by Barcelona-based Flaix Studio, the immersive projection will explore themes of hope, regeneration, and renewal as the ProAV industry looks to return to more normal ways of working following the upheaval caused by the pandemic. The 15-minute program will loop over two hours on three successive nights during ISE 2022.
“Ever since 2018, when we started working towards moving ISE to its new home, we’ve had a really warm welcome from the numerous authorities and organizations that we’ve worked with in Barcelona and Catalonia,” said Blackman. “This projection mapping is our way of giving something back and saying ‘thank you’. It will also spread awareness of ISE to the city’s wider population.”
The latest projection tools will also be highlighted on the ISE 2022 show floor—including on the Christie Stand 3K600. “Attendees can see the latest projection technology, including our award-winning M 4K25 RGB projector, and our Inspire Series 1DLP projectors in combination with one of the most advanced automated camera-based warping and blending software solutions on the market,” said Christie’s Capling. “We’ll also be launching a new high brightness 3DLP RGB pure laser projector.”
See you at the Show
With solutions for digital signage, projection mapping, smart buildings, and more on display at ISE 2022, tech professionals won’t want to miss out on the show’s Barcelona debut.
“ISE 2022 is only a few weeks away and we have nearly 800 exhibitors across six Technology Zones, a rich Conference program—and a whole host of lounges, experiences and show floor features, it’s shaping up to be an engaging, informative and eye-opening week at the Fira Barcelona, Gran Via,” concluded Blackman.
