Adeia CTO to Speak at Streaming Media NYC 2024
Adeia’s chief technical officer Serhad Doken will participate in a panel on streaming media sustainability on Wednesday, May 22, from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. ET, during the Streaming Media NYC conference. The event is taking place May 20-22 at the Intercontinental Barclay Hotel in Manhattan.
Doken will be joined by executives from Greening of Streaming, Netflix, Altman Solon, and the Help Me Stream Research Foundation to discuss strategies that address the challenges and opportunities associated with reducing the carbon footprint of the media and entertainment technology supply chain.
“There is a need for collaboration and awareness across the entire streaming media ecosystem to address energy efficiency and reduce carbon footprint,” said Doken. “Sustainability considerations should be integrated into the design process from the beginning, rather than added as an afterthought. Design choices, such as operating systems, cloud and network infrastructure, device characteristics, application implementation, and content awareness, can contribute to energy efficiency in streaming media. Achieving industry-wide energy reduction objectives will require close coordination across the value chain, from content production to distribution and consumption.”
Adeia experts will also be on hand with an exhibit throughout the Streaming Media NYC event to showcase the latest innovations in the company’s media intellectual property portfolio, including its shoppable streaming video and graceful variation technologies.
