InfoComm 2024 logoTaking place on Thursday, June 13 from 10:00 – 10:30 a.m., Voorhees will discuss how to further the conversation about neurodiversity in AV to maximize employee skill levels and attract a more diverse customer base. It includes his personal experience as the parent of a neurodiverse daughter and the process of helping her navigate her way through school and, soon enough, into her professional career.

“‘Autism and AV’ is meant to help educate attendees on how AV can sometimes be a little over stimulating and how a few simple tweaks in our practices and design approach can make a world of difference for customers and employees who may be on the autism spectrum,” said Voorhees. “I hope to provide an up close and personal look at what it’s like to be on the spectrum as well as why it is so important for our industry to recognize and readjust for this skilled group of individuals.”

The session also focuses on small changes—such as softer lighting, audio controls, quiet spaces, noise-canceling headphones, and other tweaks—could go a long way towards helping people with neurodiversities provide a strong contribution to their organizations.

The course is worth 0.5 CTS, CTS-D, or CTS-I RUs and is taking place in Room W225. To learn more about “Autism and AV” at InfoComm 2024, click here.
