Over the past few years, companies like Zoom and Microsoft have pioneered a new way of connecting people with video. By some estimates, Zoom Rooms and Teams Rooms garnered as much as 60% of meeting room installs where video collaboration was required. They’re simple and efficient, and they work every time. What’s not to like?

Well, for one, it removes choice. The Zoom Rooms concept is near perfection for the meeting leader, as you don’t have to worry about showing up 15 minutes early to ensure the meeting will start on time. But if you’re not a Zoom user, bummer. And if you want to use a Zoom Room for a Webex call, well darn — you can’t.

There is, however, a rapidly emerging trend toward what is called “Open Rooms.” The BYOM (bring your own meeting) approach to meeting rooms provides choice while maintaining simplicity. And it’s rapidly becoming the preference of users. In today’s working environment, few people have the luxury of living all of their work lives on one UCC platform. And if someone asks you to join their meeting as an attendee, it’s not often you get to dictate the platform for the meeting. We all now likely have two or three meeting platforms preloaded on our laptops, with Zoom and Teams being #1 and #2, respectively (though Verizon’s BlueJeans and Cisco’s Webex are right there, too). But what about when you start to get invited to client calls using Google Meet or Facebook Messenger? What are you going to do with that purpose-built Zoom Room then?

Enter Open Rooms. Join this webinar with rAVe’s Gary Kayye and Barco’s Kurt DeYoung so they can discuss and explain the impending revolution in the room-based UCC market. This LAVNCH & Learn is approved for 1. 0 CTS, CTS-I and CTS-D RUs. It is sponsored by Barco.
